Choosing Area Rugs for Our Apartments in Wildwood, Florida

Choosing an area rug for your apartment may seem like a simple endeavor, but there are actually a wide variety of sizes, designs, materials, and piles to choose from. The prices of area rugs can also vary greatly, ranging from about twenty dollars to thousands of dollars. Since an area rug can be a great accent to any room in your apartment, your management staff at PepperTree would like to give you a few tips on choosing an affordable, stylish area rug.

When choosing an area rug for one of our apartments in Wildwood, Florida, keep the following factors in mind:

  • Color – Based on the décor in the room that the area rug will go in, think about a color scheme that will complement the existing style. You could also try a few unexpected color combinations. For instance, if most of your living room is decorated in neutrals, try adding an area rug that is red or bright green for a fun splash of color.
  • Care – Rugs can have lots of different cleaning and care requirements, so make sure that you check what these are before you purchase. If the maintenance of a dry clean-only rug is a bit more work and expense than you would like, a polypropylene or natural fiber rug can usually be cleaned with a good vacuum and spot treatments.
  • Pile – When choosing an area rug, you will have the choice of selecting from high- and low-pile products. A high-pile carpet will often look fluffy, and due to the longer threads will feel a bit deeper when stepped on. Usually high-pile carpets are best for low-traffic areas. Low-pile carpet will have a flatter appearance with tightly woven fibers. It is generally a bit easier to clean than high-pile rugs and is better suited to high-traffic areas.
