Popular Candies from Around the World
Sweets are universally loved, which is why it’s no surprise that individuals can find all sorts of unique candies in different countries. In the United States, some of the most popular candies include gummy bears, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Swedish Fish, and Twizzlers, just to name a few. Here are some of the most popular candies in other countries:
- Argentina – Cashba is a popular candy from this country. It’s a round chocolate filled with dulce de leche (a creamier version of caramel) and rum. Another classic is Bocadito Marroc, which is comparable to a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It consists of two layers of chocolate, with a layer of peanut cream in the middle.
- Japan – Botan Rice Candy is a chewy candy that tastes like lemon-orange and has an outer layer of edible rice candy. Apollos, which look like tiny space capsules, have a lower layer of milk chocolate and a top layer of strawberry-flavored chocolate.
- Iceland – Opals are licorice tablets that are hard at first but soften into a chew. Rís are similar to a Nestle Crunch bar because it consists of milk chocolate and crispy corn puffs. But whereas Crunch bars have tiny pieces of puffed rice, the corn puffs in Rís are much larger and therefore add more texture to this unique chocolate bar.
