Creating a Succulent Garden in Our Apartments by The Villages, FL
The professionally picked color schemes in the Peppertree Apartment Homes are elegant and soothing, and they make an excellent backdrop for our residents to personalize with their décor. Some of our residents also enjoy having plant life in their homes, which is why many residents have chosen to create a low-maintenance succulent garden.
Succulents come in many varieties and colors, so there are sure to be ones that align with your personal aesthetic. Some examples of succulents include:
-
Aloe
-
Agave
-
Cactus
-
Echeveria
-
Graptopetalum
-
Sempervivum
Once you have chosen your vegetation, plant them in a shallow bowl or pot that has drainage holes, as succulents do not have deep roots and do not do well in over-saturated soil. Use a soil made specifically for growing succulents. You can then top the soil with decorative stones, gravel, sea glass, or marbles of your choosing. Place the pot on a shallow dish or pot tray to catch any water that drains out. Then, place the pot on a window sill or near a window where the plants will receive indirect sunlight. Water the plants only occasionally, enough to keep the soil just barely moist. In fact it is better for the soil to dry out in between waterings than it is for it to remain saturated all the time.
By following these tips, our residents can be well on their way to having a beautiful, but also low-maintenance, succulent garden in their apartments by The Villages, FL. If you are not yet a resident of PepperTree Apartment Homes but would like to be, contact us today for more information.
