Three Unforgettable ‘80s Songs
There are many unforgettable fads from the 1980s. Big hair, shoulder pads, and neon clothing are just some of them. While many trends from the ‘80s aren’t part of the current culture, there are still many songs from that era that played at parties, on the radio, and even at karaoke bars. Here are a few of those unforgettable ‘80s songs:
- “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey – It’s almost impossible to hear this song without singing along. Almost everyone knows that classic opening – “Just a small town girl / Livin’ in a lonely world.” With its catchy lyrics and upbeat melody, part of what makes “Don’t Stop Believin’” such a beloved tune is the fact that it references the universal desire to hold on to dreams and strive to achieve them.
- “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson – This song was off Michael Jackson’s hugely successful Thriller album and is supposedly based on a real-life incident in which a woman said Jackson was the father of one of her children.
- “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen – One of Queen’s most successful singles, this song has become a staple at many sporting events. This association with sports is likely due to lyrics like, “But I’m ready, yes, I’m ready for you / I’m standing on my own two feet,” which convey a defiant and victorious attitude.
