Must-Watch Classic Disney Movies
The Walt Disney Company first began making movies in 1923. Since then, the name Disney has become synonymous with captivating, family-friendly films. But out of the many movies created by the company, it can be difficult to know which ones should be watched first. The following list includes suggestions for those who haven’t watched many – or perhaps any – Disney movies, as well as for those trying to think of which movies to re-watch. Here are a few of Disney’s most popular films:
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938) – As Disney’s first fully animated feature film, Snow White helped set the precedent for the common plot of many of Disney’s fairytales, which includes an evil stepmother, a fatherless young girl, and a prince who comes to rescue her when things seem bleaker than ever.
- Bambi (1942) – This film, which singer Sir Paul McCartney says inspired him to take an active role in animal rights, tells the moving story of a fawn named Bambi whose mother is killed by hunters. In spite of this tragic event, Bambi is able to rely on the friendships he built with other woodland creatures to bring him comfort and happiness.
- The Fox and the Hound (1981) – The film follows the unlikely friendship between a hunting dog and a fox whose mother was killed by hunters. While their differences don’t seem to matter to either of them in the beginning, this changes as they grow older.
