The Ocala National Forest is the world’s largest sand pine scrub forest, and lucky for us, it is just 37 miles away from PepperTree Apartment Homes. This beautiful oasis of natural beauty encompasses approximately 383,000 acres where visitors can view the plants and wildlife that make Florida unique.

The Ocala National Forest also boasts over 600 lakes, rivers, and springs. The springs are an especially big draw for people during the summer, because of their crystal clear waters that maintain a 72 degree temperature year round. The springs that can be found in the Ocala National Forest include:

• Juniper Springs – There are actually hundreds of springs in various sizes at this site, making it one of the more unique spring recreation areas.

• Salt Springs – This spring gets its name from the fact that there is a slight salinity to the water found here, which is rare to find in spring water.

• Alexander Springs – As one of the biggest springs in Florida, this spring is popular among visitors because of its large, sloping, beach-like entry.

• Silver Glen Springs – This spring is also an archaeological site, as it is estimated that humans have lived around this large spring and its beautiful waters for thousands of years.
