Purchasing a whetstone or honing steel. These are fairly inexpensive and can be found at most grocery stores and home goods stores.
Running one side of the knife’s blade against the whetstone or honing steel at a slight angle several times to form a burr, or microscopic raised lip of metal on the blade. You can’t see the burr, but you will be able to feel it
Run the other side of the blade against the whetstone or honing steel at a slight angle several times. The burr should now be gone, but the knife should be significantly sharper.
Always remember to run the blade of the knife away from your body to prevent injuries
