How to Prep Your Patio/Balcony for Allergy Season
If you are lucky enough to have a patio/balcony space at your apartment, you’re likely planning on taking full advantage of it come spring and summer. And while these seasons scream outdoor activities, they also welcome allergies. Fortunately, there are a few different ways that you prep your patio for warmer weather and allergy season. And we’re sharing some of our favorites here:
Sweep
One of the most obvious ways to prep your patio area for warmer weather is to regularly sweep! Not only will this spruce up your balcony, but it will also clear any pollen build up. If it’s available to you, we also suggest pressure washing your patio floor or even simply hosing it down to really get it squeaky clean.
Wash Furniture
In addition to cleaning the floor of your balcony, we advise you to wash your patio furniture. This includes wiping down any exposed furniture and throwing cushion covers into the wash for a deep clean. Throughout the warmer months, consider going one step further and covering any unused furnishings or bringing cushions indoors to keep allergens at bay.
Hang Curtains or a Screen
To help you block out pollen and dust, consider hanging curtains or installing a screen. These can serve as an extra line of defense between you and the outdoors, which can help make your outdoor living space more accessible and enjoyable throughout the warmer seasons.
